A hardy perennial medicinal that tolerates a surprisingly wide range of conditions and, at Dark Hollow, has done particularly well in drier, leaner ground. Its fragrant flowers are harvested to make the biodynamic valerian preparation (BD507), while its roots have a long history of traditional use as a calming herb and an aid to sleep.
